Green light for new homes in Dursley

Piper Homes have been given green light for new homes in Dursley.

We have been given the go-ahead to deliver 15 homes off Tilsdown Road (A4135) in Cam, less than two miles from the centre of Dursley.

The new development, called Tilsdown Gardens, will include a range of two, three and four bedroom properties; all of which have been specifically designed for this development by Gloucester based Quattro Design Architects.

Providing a helping hand for people struggling to get onto or move up the property ladder, the site will include two affordable rented properties and two houses available under Shared Ownership.

Michaela Eaves, our Senior Planning Manager, said: “We’re really proud of our plans for Tilsdown Gardens , believing they answer the local need for beautifully-designed, high quality family homes.

“We’ve been working with the local planning authority to ensure Tilsdown Gardens is a welcome development that delivers properties that people want to call home and will continue to work with the local community as we move forward.

“This will be Piper Homes’ eighth development in, and bordering, the Cotswolds. As such, we understand the importance of delivering homes that complement some of the UK’s most beautiful locations. Our previous housing development in Upper Rissington, about an hour’s drive from Tilsdown Gardens, won numerous awards for its build quality and house designs.”

In keeping with the local architecture, the proposed detached and semi-detached homes – all of which are two storey – will have a traditional appearance, with brick detailing and various porch designs. A variety of internal layouts will be available for people to choose from.

Michaela continued: “We believe our designs for these new homes are sympathetic to the local architecture; with traditional features brought up to date for the modern homeowner.”

Where possible, we will retain existing hedgerows and trees in addition to delivering landscaped green areas within Tilsdown Gardens. A play area for future and existing residents will also be delivered.

Located within walking distance of Cam Everlands Primary School, a range of shops and the local Post Office, with easy access to Dursley, Stroud, Gloucester, Thornbury and Bristol via local bus routes, Tilsdown Gardens aims to combine the charm of rural living with a wide range of local amenities.

Michaela concludes: “We are thrilled to have received planning consent for Tilsdown Gardens and are now gearing up to start work later this year; with the aim of welcoming our first homeowners next summer.”
